Maintenance, Construction, and Resource Supervisor

The Maintenance, Construction, and Resource Supervisor supervises the staff responsible for carrying out capital improvement projects, managing natural resources, and performing general preserve maintenance. Compensation and Benefits
The Events Coordinator role is a full-time position with excellent benefits and a great work environment. The Director of Land Management leads a geographically dispersed team to manage a portfolio of 110 easements and 50 preserves, including one of TNC’s most visited. The Director of Land Management also oversees stewardship activities to ensure they advance conservation impact while meeting ethical, legal, and accreditation standards. They will engage with external partners and colleagues across TNC to foster inclusive, climate-resilient outcomes and contribute to the organization’s goals and priorities.
Responsibilities And Scope
Lead stewardship staff and advise other conservation entities in the strategic management of preserves, ensuring integrity of ownership, advancing climate resilience, and driving progress toward TNC’s 2030 Goals. Integrate priority strategies--including accessibility, inclusion of Indigenous rights, access, and perspectives—into updated management plans for those preserves where strategic impact is achievable, and uphold legal, ethical, and accreditation standards.
Lead a geographically dispersed team of 7+ land management professionals, guiding deployment of staff and resources. Set clear team goals, strategies, and priorities, and ensure staff safety while meeting deadlines. Foster resilience and adaptability in the team as they respond to unpredictable field conditions, shifting priorities, and urgent requests. Guide adaptive decision-making and cultivate a collaborative culture of learning, innovation, and problem solving. Provide oversight for performance review cycles and professional development. Guide the volunteer coordinator in strategically deploying volunteers to expand staff capacity and support stewardship goals.
Oversee the team’s response to issues and requests, ensuring constructive relationships and compliance with standards. Ensure annual field monitoring is completed to uphold legal and accreditation standards, protect TNC lands, and address violations. Directly manage high-risk or complex projects and situations, applying legal and organizational guidance.
Advance stewardship that reflects a broad spectrum of perspectives, needs and knowledge, and foster collaborative, cross-boundary partnerships with external partners including CT Department of Energy and the Environment, land trusts, tribes, other NGOs, and municipalities, to support inclusive conservation outcomes and climate resilience.
Represent TNC’s mission and priorities externally, influencing land management practices through strategic engagement with governmental, land trust, tribal, and NGO partners. Explore and pursue opportunities for cooperative management arrangements that enhance impact and build shared capacity across entities. Serve on a team of Connecticut BU strategy leads, collaborating across areas of work on priorities, relationship building, and decision-making. Work closely with the Director of Conservation Programs to shape stewardship strategy and allocate resources, ensuring alignment of TNC lands and stewardship efforts with organizational goals and Northeast Division priorities.
Systematically evaluate landholdings for strategic value and guide decisions on portfolio transfers and acquisitions, in coordination with land protection and legal teams, to focus resources on properties with the greatest conservation impact.
Oversee annual budgets and component projects, ensuring strategic use of resources.
Collaboratively develop and implement communications strategies that elevate stewardship initiatives and support outreach and fundraising objectives, including donor engagement and grant writing and reporting to build long-term sustainability of the stewardship program and the business unit.
Represent the Connecticut Business Unit in TNC’s Northeast Division and North America Region stewardship and lands work groups. Position Summary:
The Policy Director, in collaboration with program directors, leads Sustainable Conservation’s efforts whenever successful achievement of the organization’s goals would benefit from the creation or change of rules, regulations, or statutory law, or a substantive change in the interpretation of a public agency’s role or mission, or when policy negotiation, advising, or cooperation is required between Sustainable Conservation and private sector, NGO, and/or public agency stakeholders. The Policy Director tracks what is happening in Sacramento and across the state and thinks strategically about how to best position Sustainable Conservation’s programs to influence aspects of state policy relevant to work in achieving the organization’s goals (learn more about Sustainable Conservation’s programs here). As Sustainable Conservation embraces the essential role of equity in environmental policy, the Policy Director will play an influential role in leading the integration of equity into all of Sustainable Conservation’s policy work.
More specifically, the Policy Director will be representing Sustainable Conservation’s interests in the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, CV-SALTS, Irrigated Lands Regulatory Programs and the Dairy General Order among other policies, and actively communicating with a variety of state and regional agencies including the State Water Resources Control Board, the Department of Water Resources, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, the Natural Resources Agency, the Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Department of Food & Agriculture.
The Policy Director also provides advice and recommendations on policy positions and actions to the Chief Executive Officer, program staff, and the Board, and helps ensure that policy positions advocated by the organization with all government agencies, legislative bodies, and stakeholders are consistent with the positions approved by the organization.
Location: This position can be based at our San Francisco or Sacramento office but will collaborate with our Modesto team as well. Preference will be given to candidates based in or around the Sacramento region. Our teams work in a hybrid work environment with an option to work remotely a few days a week. Primary Responsibilities
Provide guidance, leadership and support to program leadership on policy and strategy issues at the federal, state, and local levels
Responsible for leading legislative initiatives and select administrative policy initiatives, all in close coordination with Program leads
Serve as an advocate and policy spokesperson for Sustainable Conservation positions to policymakers and constituency group leaders in collaboration with the different organizational programs

Experience and Skills Required

Parks & Trails New York seeks an Arthur V. Savage Intern to assist with asset database management, content creation (social media posts, newsletters, presentations), managing social media accounts, and development functions like prospect research.

Hours: Part-time, approximately 20 hours/week, beginning in January 2026 and running through August 2026. Schedules can be flexible in terms of days and times but must be within regular work week hours (M-F, 8-5).
Work Location: Work will primarily be remote, with a preference for candidates local to the Albany, NY area. Interns work closely with staff in a friendly, hard-working, casual atmosphere with the option for a mix including in-person hours.
Compensation: $18 per hour, may be used for college internship requirements.
