Executive Director

Central Pennsylvania Conservancy

CPC is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and ambitious leader who can work effectively with the Board of Directors, its committees, and staff to grow the organization, both internally and externally, to advance its strategic goals and strategies. The Executive Director (ED) works under the guidance of, and cooperatively with, the President and members of the Board of Directors and oversees the work of several staff members. The ED is responsible for the successful management of CPC and must therefore be a strong communicator, administrator, and manager. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential since continued positive relations with Board members, volunteers, landowners, governmental agencies, donors and staff are necessary for CPC to grow and achieve its goals.

Primary responsibilities, with the support of staff, contractors and volunteers, include fundraising, membership development, communications, budgeting, reporting, staffing, grant application and management, and partnership development. The ED provides oversight, leadership, management and facilitation to ensure success of CPC’s land protection and stewardship projects. The ED may take responsibility for specific land protection projects or stewardship initiatives.

Conservation Director

Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of conservation easement and fee title acquisitions. This includes overseeing the development of property conservation assessments working in partnership with Stewardship and other Conservation staff; supervising property due diligence, including title investigation; negotiating option & purchase agreements; negotiating conservation easements; developing Baseline Reports; overseeing appraisals; and managing closings; all consistent with PFT’s acquisition policies and procedures.
• Actively source and develop the pipeline of conservation easements and fee title projects within PFT’s strategic focal areas,
• Manage and develop Conservation staff.
• Secure acquisition-specific conservation funding, including from relevant state and national public sources, as well as philanthropic sources in coordination with PFT’s Development team.
• Identify and cultivate conservation partnerships through outreach to private large commercial and family forestland owners, foresters, public agencies, tribes, as well as other resource managers, land trusts, and other forest stakeholders.
• Maintain/improve conservation policies and procedures and ensure detailed record keeping and other compliance with Land Trust Accreditation Commission standards.
• Lead the development and supervise implementation of the annual Plan and Budget for the Conservation team.
• Manage project budgets, including contracts and grants.
• Serve as a key member of PFT’s Management Team. Participate and contribute to PFT Board and Committee meetings on behalf of the Conservation team.
• Represent PFT as requested in forestry, conservation and relevant donor events.
• Support PFT’s constituency building efforts through event engagement, field trips and other methods of cultivation as needed.

The Director of Conservation and Stewardship works closely with the Executive Director, land and stewardship staff, and the ERA’s conservation partners to develop and implement strategies for acquisition of conservation lands and easements and oversees and executes the land protection and stewardship programs of the Association. Responsibilities include managing a growing portfolio of conservation easement and Association-owned fee lands while also assisting with the management of conservation partner protected lands.

Land Conservation Projects Manager

Reporting to the Director of Conservation, this position supports all conservation-related activities, with a primary focus on the acquisition of fee properties, conservation restrictions, and High Road trail easements. The Land Conservation Projects Manager will also work collaboratively with other departments within BNRC and numerous partners. We’re looking for a motivated individual with experience managing land acquisition projects and a passion for BNRC’s mission. They will be familiar with the Land Trust Alliance (LTA) Standards and Practices and with LTA’s accreditation process. The ideal candidate will have managed and completed all aspects of real estate transactions and can pair interpersonal skills with project management, estate planning considerations, conservation biology, and knowledge of working lands (farms and forests). Additional experience that would strengthen the application includes familiarity and experience with conservation restrictions (CRs) and Agricultural Preservation Restrictions (APRs) in Massachusetts.

Summer Legal Extern

Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts

The summer legal extern will provide critical capacity in researching, drafting, and compiling legal tools for land trusts to use in completing conservation transactions. The extern will work closely with our full internal team and many of our member organizations.

COLT is a statewide coalition, whose mission is to strengthen and support the land trust community in Oregon. The pro bono program provides free legal services to COLT’s member land trusts regarding land transactions, including the facilitation of Tribal land access and land ownership.

With business leaders, the Director helps to identify and capitalize upon opportunities to better deploy technology to meet current and evolving business needs in a dynamic environment. The Business Systems Director reports to the Chief Information Officer and works in close partnership with business leadership. The position will supervise Business Systems Manager/Reporting Analyst and will regularly lead or direct the work of others, including outside contractors. The Director will manage the entire project life cycle on assigned initiatives, from requirements gathering through business analysis, product selection (where appropriate), project planning, testing, and implementation. In addition to this key application development role, the Director will also support the ongoing effective use of existing organization-wide systems or tools, especially the finance system, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, and the conservation project database. The Director will work with the relevant business owners to manage application vendor relationships, ensure the deployment of appropriate user training, and oversee system governance and an appropriate user access framework.

Seasonal Recreation Specialist

Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust

Seattle, Washington

Recreation Specialists conduct front country trail and trailhead maintenance, and backcountry trail maintenance projects in partnership with public land management agencies throughout the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area. Specialists work in teams of two and three to conduct maintenance projects and support the implementation of volunteer events across the Greenway landscape with groups of 10 to 100 volunteers. The Recreation Specialists facilitate both mid-week and Saturday events for the public, corporate teams, community service organizations, affinity groups and school groups. Depending on the season, they lead trail and trailhead maintenance, and environmental restoration (tree planting, and invasive weed removal) events. This position also supports additional Greenway Trust programs.
