A Coordinated Interpretive Program for the Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway

Overview

The Adirondack North Country Association collaborated with Green Goat Maps to create interpretive signage for the Central Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway. The project needed to connect ecology, history, recreation, conservation, and community identity within a consistent visitor experience along the corridor.

Scope of Work

Green Goat Maps was contracted to develop a unifying interpretive theme and six supporting sub-themes; design six interpretive panels with maps, illustrations, and narratives; conduct stakeholder meetings and site research; develop supplemental brochures and digital assets; and coordinate production and installation requirements in accordance with applicable state guidelines.

Key Deliverables

The project produced six coordinated interpretive panels supported by custom maps, illustrations, narrative content, and supplemental outreach materials. The shared design system connects individual sites to the larger scenic-byway story.

Challenges & Solutions

A regional byway contains more stories than any single sign can communicate. Green Goat Maps used a common interpretive framework to decide which stories belonged at each location while maintaining a recognizable relationship between the panels.

Results & Client Value

ANCA gained a coordinated set of interpretive resources that supports visitor education, regional identity, tourism, and understanding of the Hudson River and Central Adirondack landscape.
