A Trailhead Resource Supporting Recreation and Land Conservation

Overview

The Adirondack Land Trust needed a visitor-facing kiosk for Three Sisters Preserve that could provide clear trail orientation while introducing visitors to the conservation significance of the property. Green Goat Maps designed the map, interpretive content, and complete outdoor panel.

A welcome brochure for the Three Sisters Preserve in Wilmington, featuring trail information, a detailed map, and highlights about the preserve's benefits and land protection efforts. It includes descriptions of key trails such as the Town Connector, Flobus Trail, and Three Sisters Trail, with permitted uses for activities like hiking and biking. The brochure emphasizes the importance of land conservation, encourages stewardship, and provides contact information for the Adirondack Land Trust.

Scope of Work

The project included preserve-scale mapping of trails, topography, waterways, and nearby destinations; a regional locator map; conservation and visitor-safety content; panel design; optional illustrations and infographics; and production coordination.

Key Deliverables

The finished trailhead panel combines preserve orientation with regional context and interpretive information in a weather-resistant format suitable for long-term outdoor use.

Challenges & Solutions

A single sign had to present enough cartographic detail for safe trail use without crowding out the conservation story. Green Goat Maps separated immediate navigation information from secondary interpretation through typography, hierarchy, and layout.
