Making a Complex Watershed Understandable to the Public
Overview
Sebago Clean Waters works across a landscape defined by watershed boundaries, municipalities, waterways, and conserved lands—relationships that can be difficult to explain without a map. Green Goat Maps created a simplified outreach map designed specifically for public communication rather than technical GIS analysis.

Scope of Work
Green Goat Maps was contracted to map the Sebago watershed boundary, municipalities, waterbodies, rivers and streams, and conserved lands; apply Sebago Clean Waters branding; and adapt the design for posters, letter-size handouts, brochures, and digital use.
Key Deliverables
A single cartographic design was translated into several communication formats, allowing SCW to use the same visual story in public spaces, community events, printed materials, and online communication.
Challenges & Solutions
Watershed maps can become visually dense very quickly. Green Goat Maps deliberately simplified the geographic information and established clear hierarchy so the relationship between conserved land and the watershed remained immediately legible.
Results & Client Value
Sebago Clean Waters gained a versatile visual tool for explaining where it works and why land conservation matters to the broader watershed.
