Trail Mapping and Interpretation at the Intersection of School, Community, and Conservation Land

Overview

Cobble Hill Trail is used by local residents, visitors, and the Northwood School community. The Adirondack Land Trust and Northwood School needed a trailhead kiosk that could orient this varied audience while explaining the site's recreational and conservation context. Green Goat Maps developed the trail map, interpretive content, and complete kiosk design.

Scope of Work

Green Goat Maps was contracted to map trails, topography, accessibility-related information, and points of interest; develop content about conservation, recreation, and the history of Cobble Hill; integrate maps, illustrations, and text into one panel; and coordinate production of a durable outdoor sign.

The completed kiosk combines trail orientation, visitor information, conservation messaging, and educational content within one integrated design.

Challenges & Solutions

The kiosk had to work for experienced trail users, school groups, local residents, and first-time visitors. Green Goat Maps used a strong information hierarchy to make essential navigation easy to find while retaining interpretive material for visitors who wanted to learn more.
