Wild Center Raquette River Roll: Illustrated Map

Illustrated Map and Interpretive Panel for a Family-Friendly Outdoor Experience

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, New York, wanted a welcoming interpretive panel to introduce visitors to the Raquette River Roll and make the experience easy and fun to understand. The attraction features a collection of creative “Ball Runs” built by The Wild Center that incorporate elements of the surrounding natural environment.

Green Goat Maps created a custom illustrated map featuring several of the main Ball Runs and showing how they are arranged within the Raquette River Roll area. The illustrations help visitors understand what they will encounter while capturing the playful, hands-on nature of the experience.

We designed the map and panel to match the colors, illustration style, and overall visual character of the other kiosks Green Goat Maps created for The Wild Center. This allowed the Raquette River Roll to have a distinctive, family-friendly feel while remaining part of a consistent visitor experience across the property.

Have Something That Calls for More Than a Traditional Map?

Some places are best explained through a combination of cartography, illustration, and interpretive design. Green Goat Maps can create illustrated maps for nature centers, exhibits, recreation areas, and other destinations where showing how a place feels and works is just as important as showing where things are.

We can develop the map as part of a larger kiosk or signage system, or create a standalone illustrated piece tailored to a specific attraction or visitor experience.
