A Waterproof Recreation Map that Also Supports Lake Stewardship
Overview
The Schroon Lake Association needed a map that recreational users could take onto the water while also advancing the organization's educational and stewardship work. Green Goat Maps designed a durable lake map incorporating bathymetry, navigation information, recreation resources, lake history, and invasive-species prevention messaging.

Scope of Work
Green Goat Maps was contracted to develop detailed lake cartography, including bathymetry and navigational aids; identify recreation features and access points; design front and back layouts with educational content; and print and deliver 2,000 waterproof maps.
Key Deliverables
The final map combines spatial information needed by lake users with educational content on the reverse. Waterproof production allows the product to function in the environment where it is most useful.

Challenges & Solutions
Bathymetric and navigation information can quickly overwhelm a recreational map. Green Goat Maps structured the cartography around practical lake use, then moved complementary stewardship and historical information to the reverse rather than competing for map space.
Results & Client Value
The Schroon Lake Association received 2,000 durable maps that can support recreation, public education, community outreach, and distribution through local businesses.
